Horizon Fuel Cell Technologies from Singapore and the American firm Millennium Cell have co-developed HydroPak, a revolutionary portable fuel cell power system. Smaller than a generator yet more powerful than ordinary batteries, the HydroPak is a reliable power system that exhibits remarkable battery longevity and is environmentally friendly because it uses clean energy.

HydroPak is a fuel cell system that uses hydrogen as fuel. It incorporates a water-activated cartridge system that supplies water to a cartridge to generate hydrogen, and the cartridge can be stored for long periods of time and doesn’t require any maintenance. The rated output of the system is 25W with a maximum output of 50W, and each HydroPak is equipped with one 110V AC power supply and two 5V USB ports.

The power generation capacity per cartridge is 270Wh, and the outer dimension of the unit is 22x21x10cm.The HydroPak system is lightweight and weighs only 2.6kg when loaded with the cartridge and water.

50 watts maximum output? This thing is useless, except for charging a cellphone, not very practical even for that considering its size. I am very interested in how this kind of technology will evolve though.

What if you produce hydrogen at home with a solar panel for pretty much the cost of water? How economical would it be then? The oil companies must be crapping their pants over hydrogen, and new solar technologies. It’s about time these tyrants were knocked on their ass.

Many companies will make hydrogen, it’s easy. The price of the car will come down, and soon the hydrogen fuel cell will be powering our homes and businesses as well. No more electrical power utility companies, no more global warming. See the future guys — it’s here, it just hasn’t happened yet!

i don’t get it, you need to buy and use “cartridges”? I’m looking for something where I can “Just Add Water”. It’s coming, so I’ll keep looking. Don’t mousetrap me with some “cartridge”.
