Tire Explaination? Lt 265/75 R16?

This is the mumbo I got on the side of my 00 Ram 1500 4×4

All I really understand out of that is that R16 is the size of my actual tire correct? So I have 16in Tires?

Could anyone explain this to me?

And also .. what size tire/rim would you recommend on this type of truck? (I am looking into Mickey Thompson Wheels)

I have/am building a Hydrogen cell with a relative of mine which completely takes out the need for gas in my truck anyways .. so fuel mileage isnt really a problem.

  1. jasonallisoncorazon says:

LT= Light truck its the tire type
    265 means 265 mm wide
75 is the percentage of the width of the tire so its 75% of 265 which is 199 mm tall
the R16 means that this tire is mounted on a 16 inch rim

and sometimes there will be a letter after R16 that is your speed rating like S means 112 m.p.h. Z is 175M.P.H.+

And since its a LT tire its speed rating is 86 M.P.H.
