Why don’t the auto makers just make a car that runs off of pure oxygen? Wouldn’t it be cheaper to make a car that takes in air form outside. Separates the nitrogen and compresses the oxygen using that for the combustion instead of putting thousands of dollars in to hydrogen fuel cell technology and electric cars? all it would require are storage tanks and a highly efficient air compressor as well as a slightly modified engine.
The energy required for the separation process is always greater than the energy contained in the separated oxygen and nitrogen. Once you use any gas to power a car the efficiency of that is nowhere near 100% so again you lose energy. So actually using the gasoline engine to power the car is the simplest most energy efficient process.
A car that ran off of compressed air….now that would be cheap! All you would need is a small engine to compress the air and then use the compressed air to drive the pistons. No need for startedWe should just build our own engines and put them in our cars the government/big automakers will never let us be free.
